About this dataset

Frontier-E is a survey-volume CRK-HACC hydrodynamic simulation run on the Frontier supercomputer. It evolves just over four trillion particles—2 × 126003 particles split evenly between dark-matter and initial baryon tracers—in a 3150 Mpc/h box. The initial dark-matter and baryon tracer masses are 1.13 × 109 and 2.12 × 108 Msun/h, respectively; evolved gas, star, and black-hole particle masses are not fixed by the initial baryon mass. Its galaxy-formation model includes radiative cooling, star formation, stellar enrichment, supernova-driven winds, black-hole growth, and active-galactic-nucleus feedback.

The portal exposes snapshot halo catalogs, spherical-overdensity profiles, halo particles, galaxy catalogs, and halo merger-offset selections. Corresponding halo, profile, particle, and galaxy products are available over lightcone coverage 0 ≤ z ≤ 2.97.

Frontier-E lightcone objects are found directly from particles crossing the observer's lightcone at each simulation step. This keeps the available lightcone products mutually consistent while retaining the volume needed for survey-scale analyses.
